Dr Carol MacDonald

Librarian

Carol moved to Auckland in March 2014 from South Africa, where she worked in academic and school libraries for 15 years.  She is also a qualified English and French teacher and has taught these subjects for several years.  She loves studying and research, and this interest culminated in a doctorate in Information Science – but now she says “That’s it!”

In South Africa, Carol played a prominent part in the national professional body for librarians – LIASA - and started an interest group for library acquisition staff while overseeing this department in her library.  The interest group is still active.

As a music librarian, it’s lucky that one of her great loves is music of all genres – church music in particular.  She was the organist, worship leader and choir director for about 10 years in Mossel Bay, South Africa before moving to New Zealand.  Her most prized possession is possibly a Steinway piano.  She also has a guitar and a keyboard among her treasures.
