Dr Pat Sargison

Pat started work in the library at Tai Poutini in January 2013, working four days a week (Tuesday to Friday) and on Saturday mornings on a rostered basis. She has worked in libraries for 35 years, first at the Alexander Turnbull Library in Wellington and then for 22 years at Christchurch City Libraries, mostly in the Aotearoa New Zealand Collection. She was also a tutor in history at the University of Canterbury for ten years, and completed a PhD in history in 2001. She has specialised in women’s history, and her thesis examined the history of general nursing in New Zealand from 1830-1930. She is an experienced researcher and has published articles, essays, and material for CCL’s heritage web site over the years. She is also a very experienced indexer – she indexed the Press newspaper during all the years she spent at CCL – and has produced indexes for many books under contract to authors and publishers.
