Music Librarian – Akl MAINZ

Carol runs the library at Akl MAINZ.  She develops and maintains the collection, handles issuing of material and provides a professional information and research support service to staff and students

Carol has taught English and French at High Schools for a number of years.  Since qualifying as a librarian in 1988 she has worked mainly at Polytechnic libraries.  She also established and managed a school library in South Africa for underprivileged ethnic youth.

Awards and Peer Recognition:   1996 – Awarded a Senate Medal by UNISA for being the best honours student that year.

1989, 1996 and 2001 – Awarded merit bursaries by UNISA to complete the next step in her studies.

Research Outputs and Scholarly Works:

Instigated and co-organized a biennial conference entitled Southern Africa Library Acquisitions Conference.

Delivered papers at the National South African Library and Information (LIASA) Conferences and the South African Online User Group conferences.

LIASA organised a series of workshops countrywide relating to Carol’s doctoral studies, dealing with Collection Development in SA Libraries. Carol was the principal speaker at these events.
