Nichole Wong

Course Attended: Chef & Hospitality

When she decided to come to New Zealand to study culinary arts, Nichole Wong gave as much thought to lifestyle as she did to quality education. ‘I wanted to live in the South Island because of its stunning scenery, and the fact that it’s more peaceful and less crowded down south.’

Fortunately, TPP had all the right ingredients and offered Nichole exactly what she was looking for. ‘I needed a change of direction and wanted to gain new skills. I’ve always loved cooking and would like to establish my own business one day. I see this as the way to achieve that goal.’

It’s a busy programme – a mix of theory and practical work, as well as guided self-study – and Nichole has thrived, relishing her first taste of life as a trainee chef. ‘I love our practical classes. TPP has a spacious well-organised kitchen with all the equipment you could possibly need, and the small class size means plenty of attention from the tutors, which is great. I just love it more and more.’

Ever since she arrived, Nichole has felt welcome and well supported. ‘TPP staff and tutors are absolutely awesome. It’s been a great study experience.’
