Course Attended: Civil and Mining
I was a butcher by trade before I did the six-month Civil Construction, Quarrying and Mining course at TPP. Now I have my own company and get to drive diggers every day.
I came out of the course with all the licences I needed to start working immediately for a gold mining company on the West Coast. Then in 2013 I set up my own business, Greid Mining at Taylorville, with two other directors and now employ three staff.
I returned to TPP to further my qualifications and should complete the A + B Grade Quarry Manager training at the end of 2015, which will allow me to manage a quarry anywhere in New Zealand if I wanted to. For now though the focus is on my business, using the solid grounding I first developed through that initial course.
