Shar is Tai Poutini Polytechnic’s tutor of the Pre Health Science Programme.
Shar has extensive experience and skills in the health field. She began her career as a primary school teacher, then spent ten years with Plunket as a Nurse and a Clinical Leader on the West Coast before moving into the role of Child Protection Co-ordinator for the West Coast District Health Board.

“The growth and confidence I see in my students, plus the satisfaction of seeing graduates pursuing their career goals is extremely rewarding,” she says.

Shar is a board member of family social support organisation Focus Trust.
