There are two courses available focused on managing and working within work permit systems.

Permit Issuer/Permit Receiver - The course provides people with the skills and knowledge to work within work permit systems. This includes an introduction to work permit systems and processes including applying for and receiving work permits. It also clearly identifies roles and responsibilities when it comes to preparing for or performing Work Permit activities.

Managing Work Permit Systems and Safety Observer Responsibilities - The course outlines the procedures and control required when working with work permits and the Safety Observer’s responsibilities in controlling and monitoring activities.

Permit Issuer/Permit Receiver Unit Standards in this course include:
  • US: 17588 Apply for, accept, and carry out work according to a work permit in the workplace
  • US: 17590 Issue worksite specific work permits

Managing Work Permit Systems and Safety Observer Responsibilities Unit Standards in this course include:
  • US: 17589 Monitor, control and audit work permit systems
  • US: 17596 Demonstrate knowledge of safety observer responsibilities in the workplace

These courses can be combined for a discounted rate or either Unit Standard 17589 or 17596 can be added to the Permit Issuer/Permit Receiver course as required.

Non-notifiable Scaffolding

 
This course will give people the skills and knowledge to work safely and erect non-notifiable prefabricated scaffolding up to five metres in height.

Training includes:
  • demonstrate knowledge of non-notifiable prefabricated scaffolding
  • erect, alter, inspect and dismantle completed non-notifiableprefabricated frame scaffolding
  • undertake and implement a task analysis for the erection, use and dismantling of non-notifiableprefabricated frame scaffolding

Unit Standards in this course include:
  • US 13016 Demonstrate knowledge of the erection and dismantling of scaffolding up to five metres in height
  • US 13053 Erect and dismantle scaffolding up to five metres in height

Alternative course options:
  • US 9184 Erect and dismantle non-notifiable prefabricated frame scaffolding up to five metres in height

Scaffolding Inspection

 
This course will give people the skills and knowledge to comply with the legal requirements when inspecting scaffolding design, equipment and systems.

Training includes:
  • complete and process required scaffolding industry forms for notifications, inspections and registers
  • describe legislative requirements that relate to scaffold design
  • edge protection
  • mobile scaffolds, cantilevered scaffolds, hanging scaffolds, suspended scaffolds, and proprietary scaffolding systems
  • scaffolds over verandahs, gantries and rooves, and scaffolding accessories
  • inspection of scaffolding equipment

Unit Standards in this course include:
  • US 19621 Interpret and apply legislative requirements in the design of scaffolding works
