Aimed at team leaders, supervisors or first line managers, or those who are preparing to move to these positions, these national qualifications focus on management skills around the key areas of leadership and team building, performance management, conflict management, problem solving, oral and written communication, change management and project planning and implementation.
The delivery will be contextualised using examples, case studies and other information that replicates real situations that managers working in industry face on a day to day basis.
It will increase the knowledge and enhance the competencies of first line managers in ways that are applicable to their specific work environment.

This programme is aimed at middle managers or those who are preparing for middle management positions. The diplomas allow choices in a wide range of units drawn from sub-fields such as accounting, marketing, human resources, first line management, quality, communications, organisational strategy and business relationships.
These qualifications provide students with base knowledge and the skills and techniques in the various management disciplines and technical areas. The qualifications offer strands in Accounting, Finance, Health & Safety Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, People Development & Coordination or Project Management.

What does the business community want? They want people who have a broad range of skills including: the ability to meet production requirements, operate computers, use technology to their best advantage, provide customer service and, most importantly, show initiative and contribute to the overall goals of the organisation. This programme will provide you with the skills and knowledge to meet the demands of the business community at an entry level.
Our programmes provide flexibility to recognise and cater for diverse roles and positions in the Business Administration field.
Upon successful completion of the programme you will have excellent skills in a broad range of office duties that will enhance your career in the office environment or provide you with an excellent stepping stone to higher levels of study in this area.
On successful completion of the Level 2 and 3 programme you will receive the National Certificate in Business Administration and Computing issued by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
On successful completion of the Level 4 programme you will receive a National Certificate in Business Administration issued by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
Part time and full time options are available. Students can be accepted on individual programmes at any time of the year.

We offer some of the above papers in block courses in Westport or on a semester basis at our Greymouth campus. The block courses consist of three two day workshops (plus assignments) on a Friday and Saturday. The student can choose how many courses they want to take each year. The semester based classes require one three hour class per week plus tutorial and study time.

On completion of this programme you will be able to use a range of computer programmes and functions including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, internet, email and file management.
The purpose of this programme is to identify to employers, individuals who have achieved a base level of competence and understanding in the use of personal computers for business use. If you are already employed, this is a good way to meet professional development requirements and to prove your computing proficiency.
This qualification also provides an entry level for further education in computing.

The first semester of the Diploma in Information and Communications Technology (Level 6) provides a broad grounding in the core aspects of information and communication technology.
Students who complete and pass this semester can gain the Certificate in Information and Communications Technology. At the same time you will gain personal and business skills that will make you an effective communicator, team player and valued employee.
The full two year Diploma offers the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and specialise in IT related subjects including, but not limited to, software development, website development, IT support, programming and network support.
Core Elements
Semester One:
- CICT400 Introduction to Information Technology: this course will provide you with an introduction to the hardware, operating systems and peripherals of a computing system.

- BCCS153 Computer Architecture: To provide you with the fundamental knowledge of the architecture and internal operation of a computer system and the way in which connects to other machines in a local area network.
- BCCS198 Internet Technologies: To provide you with an understanding of resources on the internet and the practical application of internet technologies, including security mechanisms.
