About the course

This course is designed for people other than commercial forestry professionals. The course provides basic refresher training and assessment against unit standard 6917 Demonstrate knowledge of basic chainsaw operation.

Unit standards

Gain 8 credits including:

  • 6917 - Demonstrate basic chainsaw operation

Entry requirements

  • Relevant work experience working with saws and machinery in a construction /extractive/ forestry/ agriculture environment. This can be evidenced by a nomination or letter from your employer or evidence of relevant work experience. A pre-test may be required.
